Day 4 - Blythe to Wickenburg

Miles : 115.1
Elevation Gain: 3100 ft

Today was one long, hard day. The weather was fine but we had to ride 116 miles. The scenery was fantastic. Starting to see mountains in the background, cactus, and sagebrush. There were very long stretches of road with nothing. Then every once in a while there would be a trailer park out in the middle of nowhere. Many of them advertised as 55+ don't know why anyone would want to live there. One of the riders said maybe it was a witness protection program!!

Riding 115 miles after 100 the day before is not easy. A few of the riders took a ride in the van to shorten the miles. I lucked out, along with another woman. We were the last riders so two of the support staff let us draft behind them. For those of you who don't ride, you use about 15 percent less energy when you are drafting. I might still be out there otherwise. The support staff are super. I feel like they are really taking care of us, concerned about our safety, and have responded quickly to problems that have arisen.

Tomorrow we start 3 days of mountain climbing. The miles will be shorter but the effort will be hard.

Keep pedaling one stroke at a time and before you know it you will have reached the top. Once at the top it is all downhill from there.
